Surprises & why it's good to have ANY camera to hand!

Often, when visiting picturesque places, I see something surprising that I just have to snap. Whilst walking around Coate Water Park in Swindon, I couldn't resist capturing this bird shaped branch in a tree.

This image was taken using a Panasonic DMC-FS8 compact digital camera, F/5.9, 1/125 sec, ISO-250.



I preferred this image in black & white, and wanted to show some obvious contrast so in Photoshop,  I selected the following from the menu bar:


IMAGE > ADJUSTMENTS > BLACK AND WHITE


I then selected the 'Red Filter' from the PRESETS drop-down menu, as shown here:


I used the same settings for the following image as I wanted to give it a 'moody' feel:


This image was taken using a Canon EOS 400D DSLR camera, F/10, 1/320 sec, ISO-400.  I  used a fast shutter speed as it was a windy day and I wanted the photo be as sharp as possible.
