More DOF...

I was worried about scaring this little fella away, so I used my Canon 18-135mm zoom lens for this shot.  Camera settings were F/7.1, 1/250 sec, ISO-400. By focussing on the bird, I was able to get some depth of field to this image.

Whilst visiting Prior Park in Bath a couple of years ago, I decided to take my new Canon SLR camera and try it out for the first time.  I had very little knowledge of how to use it, so was practising the half-shutter release, whilst attempting some depth-of-field shots.
In the following image, I focussed on the stem/wall instead of the rose petals, and this has added some blur to the rose petals and the bottom of the stem.  It's not the sharpest image, but not bad for my first attempt!  The colours in the original image were a little flat so I used 'Picassa' to enhance the colour.  I don't like to admit, that this was shot using the Auto mode.

Noticing a swan in the background, I wanted to try capturing the detail of the rose, and blurring the swan, therefore adding D.O.F (depth of field) to the image. This was also shot using Auto.
